If you were anywhere near the Bay Area this spring, you may have noticed that 4/20 hit a bit different this year. Instead of a big production at Hippie Hill, a new week-long series of cannabis events lit up San Francisco’s shops and lounges. SF Weed Week, created by cannabis journalist David Downs, was a resounding success that sparked joy among the community and captured the attention of the media and even the mayor. 

The cannabis community knows how to party, so events like SF Weed Week and the upcoming successor, SF Hash Week, can not only uplift the local community, but attract the growing cannabis travel audience to plan a trip to experience them.

Similar to SF Beer Week or New York Fashion Week, SF Weed Week / Hash Week brings a diverse connoisseur and craft community together. It’s a week-long event series where you meet the industry’s best producers and sample new products together. It includes art, music, food, and giveaways. The mission and vision of SF Hash Week is to support a thriving and exemplary city of San Francisco, Bay Area, and cannabis culture.

The Cannabis Trail is thrilled to partner with SF Hash Week this year and invite our community to visit the Bay Area this July for 7 days of events, special releases and parties spread throughout San Francisco’s cannabis lounges and shops celebrating all things hash, kicking off on “Oil Day” 7/10. It’s a wonderful chance to immerse in the craft community and enjoy the best cannabis lounge experiences at their peak.

The Trail’s epicenter in San Francisco is Cafe Flore, a traditional gathering place of the queer community in The Castro, which now houses a restaurant called Fisch & Flore and the neighboring Flore Dispensary, a Cultural Landmark on The Cannabis Trail honoring the work of Dennis Peron and Brownie Mary. 

It was at Cafe Flore that Peron and Brownie Mary met, sharing a joint on the patio and eventually working together to pass Proposition 215, which re-legalized medical cannabis in California in 1996. You can find our team at Flore during SF Hash Week, sprucing up the landmark with interactive signage and helping you plan your journey to explore the Trail.

Flore is also where our SF Hash Week Pioneers of Pot Check-in Challenge begins, an interactive challenge guiding you through The Castro on a walking tour of cannabis pioneers. You’ll learn about the intertwined roots of the LGBTQ+ and cannabis movements and meet some legendary figures in weed and queer history as you collect Pioneer Badges in the interactive app powered by Seeker Explore.
