Each year, the 4/20 holiday gives us a reason to come together in celebration of cannabis culture—its roots, rituals, and revolution. The origins of “420” run deep in Northern California soil, sprouting from a group of Marin high schoolers called The Waldos who gathered at 4:20 after school to spark up, unwind, and dream big. Decades later, this simple ritual has blossomed into a global phenomenon, carried on the winds of Grateful Dead tours and underground scenes long before the internet ever heard the word weed.

Now, with legalization opening new doors and deepening the importance of legacy, 4/20 is not just a day—it’s a whole vibe. It’s a weekend full of seshes, dispensary specials, art, music, and community gatherings rooted in history, resilience, and joy. This year, 4/20 falls on Easter Sunday, giving us even more reasons to gather, reflect, and rejoice in the plant and her people.

Here’s what’s happening along The Cannabis Trail at our Cultural Landmarks and nearby from Willow Creek in Northern Humboldt down to the hills of Santa Cruz for 4/20 weekend 2025:
